Draco Volans

For those that don' know, I am obsessed with lizards...and to discover flying dragon lizards are REAL?!?! This is the DRACO VOLANS — The Closest Thing to a Real Dragon! Native to Southeast Asia, the Draco lizard doesn’t just look like a dragon, it glides like one. It has special elongated ribs that extend out sideways, stretching folds of skin that act like wings. These “wings” aren’t used for flight, but for controlled gliding between trees, often covering distances of up to 10 meters. They spend nearly all their lives in the treetops, only descending to lay eggs.
