Second Amendment Patriots

Dedicated to supporting the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms.   If you are interested in being Admin for this Group, contact Dr. Seuzz. The Second Amendment may be one of the most controversial, yet most important amendments of the Constitution...and gun owner rights are on shaky grounds right now.  Second Amendment Patriots is for people who support our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms and want to discuss guns, freedom, the Constitution, gun control, and related topics.  It is also for those that believe in the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.  Please note we aren’t suggesting you get legal advice here, as it’s best to seek counsel BEFORE you might need it; we are here for discussions only.  More than 1.7 million guns were sold in May 2020, which is an incredible amount compared to previous years.  With gun ownership numbers skyrocketing, this is no doubt a relevant topic.  What exactly is a CCW, or carry conceal permit? Do you know what is allowed and what is not?  Concealed carry, or carrying a concealed weapon (CCW), is the practice of carrying a weapon, such as a handgun, in public in a concealed manner, either on one's person or in close proximity. Not all weapons that fall under CCW laws are lethal. For example, in Florida, carrying more than 2 oz. of pepper spray requires a CCW permit.  As of 2019 there have been 18.66 million concealed weapon permits issued in the United States.  Do you know what brandishing is?  Oh, it can sound like a good idea, but is it?  And can you get in trouble?  Brandishing means showing the weapon, or exhibiting it to another person, in a rude, angry or threatening manner or using it in a fight or quarrel.  You don’t need to point the weapon at the other person, but if you think waving your gun in a road rage incident to scare off the other driver is smart, think again.  Have you heard of Stand Your Ground?  What about the Castle Doctrine or Castle Law?  These are very key when it comes to gun ownership and self-protection.  A stand-your-ground law provides that people may use deadly force when they reasonably believe it to be necessary to defend against a threat of death, serious bodily harm, kidnapping, rape, or other serious crimes. Under such a law, people do not have to retreat before using deadly force in self-defense, so long as they are in a place where they are lawfully present.  Stand-your-ground laws cannot be invoked by someone who is the initial aggressor, or who is otherwise engaged in criminal activity. The exact details vary by jurisdiction.  Akin to this is the Castle Doctrine, which states that a person's abode or any legally occupied place (like your home or vehicle) as a place in which that person has the right, in certain circumstances, to use force, including deadly force, to defend oneself against an intruder.    The Second Amendment has a lot of facets so let’s discuss!  Welcome to the group!  Please note that these discussions should not be taken as legal advice.  Consult with an attorney before you need to.  Sorry, no buying or selling allowed in this group; it’s the law.
